Naughty Dog itself hinted that Uncharted 4 would see the death of Nathan Drake, but as anyone that has completed the game can attest, that doesn't come to pass. The pre-release speculation of Uncharted 4 led many to believe that this would be accomplished by offing main characters, specifically Nathan Drake. However, with The Last of Us directors at the helm of Uncharted 4, it's reasonable to think that one of their goals would be to add more depth to the story. The Last of Us is much more focused on storytelling than the Uncharted series, and has various complexities simply not present in Nathan Drake's adventures. In order for the game to be finished, the duo that directed The Last of Us, Bruce Straley and Neil Druckmann, stepped in to fill the creative void left in the Uncharted 4 team.

Series writer and creative director Amy Hennig left Naughty Dog, and not long after that, Uncharted 4's game director departed from the studio as well. First of all, the game's creative team had a significant shakeup a couple of years back.

Everyone else, feel free to join me as I dissect the conspiracy of Uncharted 4's ending, and what I think is the true of fate of our hero, Nathan Drake – though keep in mind that this is just a theory.īefore I get to the events of the ending, however, I need to talk a bit about what was going on before the game released, in order to set the stage. If you don't want Uncharted 4's ending spoiled for you, then I suggest finishing it up before returning. While I mostly loved the game, something felt off to me in the game's third act, and after thinking on it more, I think that its final moments are not as straight forward as they seem.īe warned that in order to explain my theory about what really happened at the end of Uncharted 4, I have to venture pretty deep into spoiler territory.

Like many PS4 owners, I spent a good deal of the last couple of weeks playing Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. Uncharted 4: A Thief's End is available now for PS4.One writer dissects the third act of Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, and comes to the conclusion that Nathan Drake's true fate is not what it seems on the surface. The studio's support for the game should keep the community engaged longer than they've been with past Uncharted games, but time will tell if the content Naughty Dog is offering is enough to keep fans from moving on to other games. With new story DLC supposedly on the way and a co-op survival mode being added to the game as well, Naughty Dog is supporting Uncharted 4: A Thief's End for the long haul. If that's the case, the Uncharted 4 story DLC should be available by March, if not sooner, depending on how much progress Naughty Dog has made on the project in recent months. Unless the story DLC suffers a number of delays like the main game did, fans should be able to expect it to launch in the first quarter of 2017. Those that can't attend the PlayStation Experience shouldn't have to wait too much longer to experience the new content. For now, all fans can do is guess as to what Uncharted 4's story DLC will entail based on the information from the supposed industry insider, but it's possible that concrete information about it will come sooner rather than later. The story DLC for Uncharted 4: A Thief's End is said to be unveiled at the PlayStation Experience event in December, where attendees will even be able to go hands-on with the new content. Of course, that's just speculation at this time. This has prompted some speculation that the DLC will take place in the gap between Nathan's retirement and the game's epilogue where players control Cassie herself. Spoiler warning for those that haven't completed Uncharted 4 yet, but apparently Cassie Drake, the daughter of Nathan and Elena, will not appear in Uncharted 4's story DLC. The story itself will be a self-contained tale that will be a bit longer than The Last of Us: Left Behind.Īt this point, it's unclear when the story DLC for Uncharted 4 takes place, but the Sony insider offered a hint. Nathan Drake will reportedly make an appearance as well, though he won't play a significant role. This rumor comes from a supposed Sony insider, who claims that the DLC will largely focus on Sam Drake and Nathan's usual partner in crime, Sully.
Now that Uncharted 4: A Thief's End has been out for over six months, it seems like Naughty Dog is finally ready to pull the curtain back on the DLC, and if recent rumors are any indication, it may feature Nathan Drake's brother Sam in the starring role. According to a Sony insider, story DLC for Uncharted 4: A Thief's End will star Nathan Drake's brother Sam, and it will be revealed at the PlayStation Experience.īefore the critically-acclaimed Uncharted 4: A Thief's End was released to the masses, Naughty Dog has been talking about story DLC for the game in the vein of the Left Behind expansion that was released for The Last of Us.
